Thomaston Harbor Master
Role and Responsibilities
The Harbor Master’s primary responsibilities are the safety of boaters and the regulation of mooring permits for residents and nonresidents in the Thomaston, Maine region. Other responsibilities include ensuring the safety of the navigable waterway, and enforcement of regulations and laws pertaining to watercraft.
The Harbor Master handles a variety of calls from watercraft in distress to overdue boaters and he works with the Coast Guard and Maine Marine Patrol as needed. The Harbor Master also assists in emergency operations with police and fire rescue personnel, including man overboard incidents, drowning victims, bridge jumpers and watercraft accidents. The Harbor Master handles all types of water related incidents on the St. George River and more.
Thomaston Public Landing Fee Schedule
Mooring Rental: $100 per year – Paid annually to the Town of Thomaston
Overnight Docking: $1.50 per foot of boat length
Harbor Parking Violation:
- First Offense - $5.00
- Second Offense - $20.00
- Additional Offenses - $50.00
