Thomaston Community Easter Eggstravaganza Draws Strong Turnout and Sets Stage for Future Growth

The Thomaston Recreation Department proudly brought back the Community Easter Eggstravaganza, welcoming local families for a festive and high-energy spring tradition.

More than 2,000 eggs were spread across the field in preparation for the event. Participants arrived eager and ready, resulting in the eggs being collected in an unprecedented amount of time. The enthusiasm and turnout highlighted both the popularity of the event and the importance of continued planning to expand opportunities for participation in future years.

Preparations for the event began earlier in the week, with 9 dedicated volunteers assisting in the egg-filling effort on April 2nd. On the day of the event, a limited but committed group of 4 volunteers ensured that all eggs were placed and the event was successfully carried out. The Recreation Department extends its sincere appreciation to those who contributed their time and effort.

While this year’s event brought a crowd, the department recognizes the opportunity for growth and encourages additional community involvement moving forward. Increased volunteer participation will allow for an even more engaging, inclusive, and extended experience for attendees in the future.

The Thomaston Recreation Department would also like to thank Tack Joe Food Truck, Thomaston EMS and Jessica LeCaptain Photography for their valued participation and contributions to the day’s success.

Looking ahead, the department remains committed to enhancing the Easter Eggstravaganza each year, with plans to increase the number of eggs, expand activities, and create a longer-lasting experience for all participants. The 2027 Eggstravaganza will take place on Saturday, March 27th at 10:00AM with quality provisions including a designated photo time with the Easter Bunny before the hunt, roped off hunting areas, and a limit of 20 eggs per child.

The Thomaston Recreation Department thanks all families, volunteers, and community partners who helped make this year’s event memorable and looks forward to building on this momentum in the years to come.
